Featuring the Work of Playwright Jackie Alexander

Welcome to The Billie Holiday Theatre's 41st Season.

We are excited about the major productions for our 2012-2013 Season. Our first production is based on a true story which was featured in our New Voices reading series. I received so many emails from those of you who attended the reading encouraging me to present The Resurrection of Alice as a full stage production. I am delighted to say that here it is!

Our second production, Finding Home, was also featured in our New Voices reading series, and received rave reviews from the audience. Written by Keline Adams, recipient of a playwriting fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Finding Home examines how the inability to deal with loss affects three generations of African American women. It's a riveting family drama you don't want to miss!

Finally, Jackie Alexander’s name has been synonymous with BHT audiences for his exciting, innovative and very talented work, be it as a playwright/director with The High Priestess of Dark Alley, Brothers from the Bottom, and The Legend of Buster Neal or with his acting in Plenty of Time and Storm Stories.

If Jackie’s name is involved, you know it's going to be superb. Now Jackie has co-authored a new play with Kesi Foster, someone Jackie has mentored for nearly three years. Wait until you experience The Obeah Symphony.

I look forward to seeing you at the Theatre, thank you for your support.

We have several exciting events planned; please revisit our site soon for more information about new productions. To receive email updates, sign-up at our mailing list.

We so appreciate your continued support.

Sincerely,
Marjorie A. Moon, Executive Director

Arranged marriages are practiced among many cultures around the world.
